Features of the BMW X5

Like many new BMW models, the X5 shares a similar push for edgy, sharp and angular design, pushing the boundaries of automotive design. The X5 is to be refreshed in 2023 for the following model year, and will likely go even further down the rabbit hole of futuristic design language.

You will find many common standard tech features found in most cars today, with things such as Apple CarPlay, High-Beam Asisstant, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and more.

BMW is known to make a comfortable, yet, sporty vehicle. You will find all the luxury touches you’d come to expect in this $80,000+ suv. Rear passenger room is nice with plenty of leg room and high headliner, great for taller individuals.

How does the Nautilus compare?

The X5 is far more expensive

BMW is known to make some great products, but as always, comes at a cost. You could easily look at an X5 and think it has more offered. What you might forget to take into account is the additional $20,000 starting price. If you don’t already know, options on a BMW are quite extensive and can quickly add up. Once you option the BMW X5 to a similar spec to the Lincoln Nautilus, you’ll find the Nautilus is a far better choice. Step inside a Lincoln Nautilus to experience the difference between the two, on the 24-48 hour Discovery Drive, an experience provided by Yorkdale Lincoln. Find out for yourself why the Nautilus is the better option.

Features of the Lexus RX

The Lexus RX gets a complete redesign from bumper to bumper for model year 2023. They have taken the modern Lexus look and smoothed it off, with more sculped and sleek lines throoughout. Even though it recieved a full redesign, it’s kept alot of the classic look.

As the RX got a redesign this year, it translated into the tech and features offered. This means the introduction of Lexus Smart Safety system+ 3.0. This new addition includes a host of safety features many look for in their new vehicles such as Lane Keep assist, Auto High Beam Assist and more!

Though Lexus is a luxury car manufacturer, that doesn’t always mean pure comfort. The RX is a mid-size crossover, but lacks some comfort and space that some competitors have. The Lexus RX has a relatovely sporty ride which may not be deisrable to some individuals. This means tighter steering, stiffer suspension, and more a senitive throttle response.

How does the Nautilus compare?

If you ever carry even one passenger, the Nautilus is the way to go

Yes, the Lexus RX is a nice Mid-size crossover and has plenty of great tech, but it isn’t as pleasurable when it comes to comfort. The ride quality is tuned to cater to a slightly sportier drive than some would expect out of a Mid-size crossover with a 2.4L 4 Cylinder and only 275hp. While the RX can be equipped quite highly, with plenty of options to choose from, simple features such as navigation are an option for some reason. This is in contrast to the Nautilus that comes standard with things such as built-in navigation, the renowned Revel Audio System, Phone as a key, and so much more!

Features of the Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 has been around for over 10 years, with a highly recognizable design. It has kept the standard sharp, but soft Audi styling that people have come to expect. The interior feels very “Audi” as well, with a familiar layout and design which, to some, could make it feel slightly dated in the year 2023.

Audi has always had unique and exciting features and tech in their vehicles. Though this is generally reserved for their higher-end, flagship models such as the A8, their innovative features have slowly trickled down over the years. As of 2023, adaptive cruise control is now standard in the Q5.

A common complaint about the 2023 Audi Q5 is the lack of comfort. Not only do many find that it lacks a lot of character in its driving and handling, but they also don’t find the interior space to be optimal. There are competitors, such as Lincoln who do a better job when it comes to comfort and space.

Do you care about interior space?

Based on many press reviews, it’s clear that the 2023 Audi Q5 falls short in a few places. Rear seat and leg space are not only less than ideal for many individuals, but the smaller trunk than the competitors have makes daily tasks such as grocery shopping has been made slightly more difficult. You will find the Lincoln Nautilus to have a perfect amount of legroom, as well as headroom for backseat passengers. It is also important to note that the Audi Q5 is missing a lot of the fun customization you may look for when building your luxury SUV, as options are quite limited. The Lincoln has a great balance of plenty of customization while keeping the price down as there are always a ton of included and standard features.

Features of the Cadillac XT5

The Cadillac XT5 was introduced for the 2016 model year and has kept very similar styling since. It has seen only minor updates and changes throughout the years, and for 2023, has again seen very small changes. Due to it not receiving much in terms of updates, the body styling and interior are looking slightly dated.

The Cadillac XT5 comes standard with a Turbo 4-Cylinder with 235hp but can be optioned with a V-6 which bumps the power up to 310hp. The XT5 also comes standard with things such as Apple Carplay, Android Auto, an intuitive infotainment system with a rotary dial for navigating, and more. Despite the somewhat older styling, the tech has been updated relatively consistently.

The Cadillac XT5 has all the comfort and luxury features you’d come to expect in a compact luxury SUV. Cadillac has made some well-performing, sport luxury sedans, especially in recent years, but the XT5 has missed the boat, as it doesn’t have much to offer on the sporty side. Even equipping the optional Adaptive Suspension doesn’t add as excitement much as some may like.

The Cadillac is fine but the ride isn’t anything special

The Cadillac XT5 is a nice SUV but it doesn’t feel like the right choice. When you find out that the engine options feel slightly underpowered compared to the competition, and the ride is slightly harsher, you question why someone would choose the Cadillac XT5 over something else. Once you look at this vehicle from a holistic perspective, the XT5 is just ok, in a booming segment with tons of new, exciting SUVs to choose from. Not only is the ride quality less than desirable, but it is also starting to look outdated in 2023. The Lincoln Nautilus is a fantastic compact luxury SUV that offers a wealth of luxury features but doesn’t look outdated. You’ll find that the newest generation of infotainment from Lincoln, SYNC 4, is the most intuitive and feature-rich system in this segment. What makes this system exceptionally great to use is the fact that this is encapsulated in a 13.2″ touchscreen, mounted right in the center of the dash.

The Results

A common issue many are finding in this compact luxury SUV segment is how each manufacturer is either intentionally or unintentionally pushing the sporty factor, even on cars that don’t require or benefit from it. This is either due to an SUV being equipped with cheap suspension components, missing some performance-improving parts, or not being equipped with certain options.

The Lincoln Nautilus ditches all of that and understands what it’s meant to do. Lincoln knows what kind of vehicle people are searching for, especially in this segment. The Nautilus has a quiet cabin, a comfortable ride, and great luxury touches throughout the interior to ensure you’re aware Lincoln knows what they’re doing. In this busy segment, you get what you pay for, and a sporty compact luxury SUV in the $60,000 range is bound to run out of skill quite quickly. That is why Lincoln strayed away and took their own direction with the Nautilus.
